I think we have a bit of scale clogging going on, even if we don't have very hard water.
Back in September 2013 when I had to replace a bad fitting on the almost new (August 2012) ASHP hotwater tank, the cold water intake nipple was almost completely full of gunk.. It was like a thick coat of slimy light brown mud growing out from the pipe walls, with a 1/4" opening for the water flow.. I think it's scale mixed with the clay silt we get in the water here.. I have yet to do my yearly tank flush, but I expect to see a lot of brownish water coming out.. Anyways, they 'say', on of these resonator gizmos will actually clean up your whole system, and will initially dump a lot of debris into the aerator screens in your taps.. Mixed in with the reviews, are a lot of "placebo" claims, so I'm up in the air about spending very much on this 'maybe' project.. Maybe someone with a some experience with with this stuff will read and comment.?.

One of my friend has Aquasana water softener which works well without the salt based process.
