Tesla will be king of batteries only for as long as ford or gm allow them to be.

You say that, but look at VAG/Jag. Tesla has a huge head start, and makes their own chemistry in house. They've also made substantial improvements in recent history. the others are all buying from OEMs.

And if Tesla is able to integrate supercaps into its battery system then it's lights out for the big three. Unless of course they want to buy batteries from Tesla.

Just had another communication meeting with the product development guys at Ford. They're really going to bring it, starting next year. The team is in the " anticipation building" phase now: not saying a whole lot officially, just releasing tidbits and teasers for what they will be releasing soon. The corporation has already gone all in on battery electric vehicles, so they want people to want these vehicles before they release any concrete information. They intend to completely change the automotive industry and public perception of its future.

The magic number seemed to be 3 regarding plans and specs. 3 charging rates, 3 hours to charge from dead to full, 300 mile range, 30 percent less maintenance, 3 reasons to want them (performance, efficiency and price). They said it was a "30 year opportunity"; newest thing in 30 years, aimed at 30-something buyers. Aiming to beat the other "3 models" (Tesla model 3, VW id3, BMW i3, etc.). 3 key launches (f150, transit van, cross-stang).

The way these guys are talking, they have a lot of wild cards up their sleeves. If initial rollout doesn't go as well as intended, they have ammunition in reserve to further the cause. Either way, the first 3 "critical" launches are a pilot program for another dozen eggs they plan to hatch back to back over the next few years.

Their gasoline engines suck anyways.
Hopefully they don't build their motors and drives in house.

Oh with a 300 mile range we will say the truck gets 3 miles per kwh.
So the battery would need to be at least 100kwh of use able capacity. To replenish 300 miles of range in 3 hours you would need at least a 33kw charger circuit.
That's 138 amps of 240v power. That's pretty much everything you can get out of a 200 amp service.
