Default Thermoacoustic Heat Pump

Has anyone heard of and/or had experience with thermoacoustic heat engines/pumps?

There is a local producer here, claiming his "sonic heaters" are the furnaces of the future, most efficient, etc. Apparently he is still researching this with a university team, applying for patents.

I tried researching on the net, but most of what I find are the theoretical background, hardly any practical examples. Let alone a comparison between thermoacoustic and refrigerant-based heat pumps.
