Time saver for uploading pictures
I got a nice camera for Xmas, plus a nice 8GB memory card for it.. Amazon.com: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 16x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black): Camera & Photo I wanted a good zoom for the backyard wildlife.. It' really nice to have all that memory, but I never need a lot of memory, since most of my snapshots are for uploading. I come back to this PC, find the right cable, plug in, turn on the camera, wait for XP then a few clicks later, I'm ready to start cropping pics.. But, this week is my birthday! I got a new memory 4GB card, that has built-in Wifi Amazon.com: Eye-Fi Connect X2 4 GB Class 6 SDHC Wireless Flash Memory Card EYE-FI-4CN: Computers & Accessories Takes about 5 minutes to install the software (I think it's inside the SD adapter that comes with the card). Once it's running, you can go anywhere within WiFi range of your router, and your pictures will upload to your PC as you snap them.. When I get back to the PC, I check the displayed status and turn off the camera.. I'm ready to start looking at my new pics (or movies) by the time I sit down.. Call me lazyman.org, but I like the how this has streamlined sending pics to disk.. They also have setups for sending pics to photo websites etc. Now, I won't have any excuse for not posting pics of my DIY projects..

7AM?? Red Sky in the morning, crazy WiFi ?
I got up way too early this morning. The eastern sky was very red.
I wondered if my camera could capture any of that color.?. So, I stepped out and took a couple of pics. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/P1000849.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...r/P1000850.jpg When I came in, I saw my PC was still off.!. No auto-upload.. So, turned off the camera, put it away, hit the PC power switch and headed for the kitchen. When I came back, I entered my password and Windows 7 booted up. Once the system was fully loaded, the little EyeFi pic-loading windows opened! One after the other, the pictures were uploaded to my hard-drive.. I looked at the camera, and it was still OFF!! How did those pictures upload?? Were they hung up in the Fios wifi router, waiting for me to power up the PC? Or, maybe the camera off-on slide-switch is working very-very slowly? Weird start of the day, but kinda cool..
