Hi all,

I finally finished the DIY HRV and plugged it to the wall of my living room!
It's been working for about an hour now at minimum velocity, outside temperature is 10,0 degrees Celcius, inside T is 21,1 and incoming fresh breeze (top) at 19,0!! The thing is rocking real good!!

Have a happy new year people, see you on 2013

Very nice Kostas! Congrats on getting it up and running, and at a great efficiency it seems.

Congratulations kostas, on a job well done.

I hope your success starts a tsunami of DIY HRVs!

It might be helpful if, all on one page, you made a list of any details you think are important for someone interested in building their own HRV similar to yours... things like Height, Width Depth of box, Height, Width Depth of each core, wattage of fans, core material, and any other details you think might be useful, too.

Very good job!

Best,

-AC_Hacker

Kostas, isn't that box missing a wall?

Thats awesome work and results.
I'm going to try my hand at a very similar but smaller unit for my clothes dryer.
And if that works out ok then a larger unit for fresh air.
This blows away retail units for results not to mention the cost.
Another success for the DIY market.

Thanks everyone for your comments, really appreciate them
AC: yes, I have in mind a full detailed how-to-do instructions. As soon as I have the list down I'll be glad to have your helpful comments for it, too
Piwoslaw: yeh, I totally forgot the door!! That means that it could be over 101% efficient

Fantastic work kostas, a simple design that operates perfectly, beating most mass produced units, at 101%, even better.

Will definatly be having a go myself.

Will be good to see your air flow.

My build took a tad longer. Today I managed to do a Q&D connecting, but the entire contraption is not finished yet.

Air is flowing but I did not do any thermal nor acoustic insulation. My son asked about that while running at the lowest setting, and stated the noise needed no care at all. (If you knew what to listen for you could tell it apart from the sound computers make.) At higher settings both airflow and sound are more noticable.

More disturbing to me: temperature readings are not looking as good as what Kostas gets. I need to investigate this.

Good job, Fornax. Give us some data, temperatures, air flow, hx dimensions. I guess you can improve it furthermore
