Thumbs up Atlanta residents: Free water saver kit from Atlanta Watershed...

Water Saver Kits.

"Doing more with less water makes good sense. You don’t have to feel deprived to save water; you just need to make sensible choices that incrementally reduce the amount of water you need to do everyday tasks.

Installing low-flow devices on ordinary household fixtures is a painless way to reduce the amount of water you use.

To help people make wise water choices, DWM’s Office of Water Efficiency (OWE) makes Water Saver Kits available to its water customers. Each kit contains a 1.5 gallon per minute low-flow showerhead, a 1.5 gallon per minute kitchen faucet aerator, two 1 gallon per minute bathroom sink aerators and toilet leak detection tablets. The kit bag is also a water-saving tool: the empty bag serves as a flow measuring device. To measure the flow of your current water fixtures, place the empty bag around the sink faucet or showerhead, turn on the water full blast for 5 seconds, turn off the water, and check the bag to see how much water is in the bag. The markings on the bag indicate flow in terms of gallons per minute.

If you’d like to verify how much water you are saving, perform the same test after you’ve installed the low-flow fixtures. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Water Saver kits are available to City of Atlanta water customers at all of the City’s fire stations. Make sure you bring documentation verifying your address to your local fire station."

Dropped by the firehouse. The guy was taken aback that someone came for the kit. Said it was a really old program, shuffled through a closet and came back with three kits! Included was two sink aerators, dye tablets, and last but not least, a Niagara showerhead! I'm fully excited!

My gas company provided two Niagara Earth 1.5gpm heads to me along with two faucet aerators. I just had to fill out the form to request them while logged into their billing website and they arrived in my mailbox for free. Oddly enough I've clocked both my Waterpik 1.5gpm head and the Niagara Earth 1.5gpm head and the Waterpik head came out at 1.8gpm and the Niagara came out at 1.3gpm. Measured by taking an accurate timed 10 minute shower and looking at the gallon count before and after the shower.

Nice to hear that Atlanta provided you with a Niagara head too. It's an excellent shower head and the price(even when you pay for it) is cheap.
