Cheaper than renting, federal tax deduction on the mortgage interest and a place to call your own. How sweet it is!

Congratulations

That is cool. My wife and I are looking to do the same type of thing in about 8 months, once our lease ends. Keep us posted on upgrades.

3 bedroom ceilings painting, 2bedrooms painted.
So it turns out I can't stand painting. After spending some time in this house I REALLY like it.

We've got 1 bedroom fully painted, kitchen's done, living room (which has a looong hallway connected to it, unpainted) is painted. We're saving the bathrooms for later (waaay later). We move on by Sept 22.

Nest is installed.
AC wasn't working, turns out we have a flip switch for the AC unit. We never could figure out with that switch was until nest told me we had no power on the R wire... Smart thermostat indeed. Full review coming after we get wifi and gather some data.

After a year in the making... I'm sleeping my first night in our new house!! I think I'm going to start a build thread instead of continuing this one. I just wanted to document the search. And it's over!

No, I want to get a certain amount of prep done first. That and you can't walk all through because of the boxes.
Also with the IR cameras you want a difference in outside and inside temp right? Its not stated but I believe you'd want a bit of a difference to be able to tell whats in and outside air.
