Hello from sunny Mexico!
We're up here on the border in Mexicali, about 90 min. from San Diego/Tijuana and 40 min. from Yuma, Arizona.
We've been trying to build a parabolic solar hot water heater for a while now and have finally uploaded some photos and specs. Since none of us are engineers it has been quite a learning experience. We think we have most of the kinks ironed out and are presently trying to figure out why our solar tracker will track till noon and then wants to run all the way to the far west position. Here is the link for http://www.appropedia.org/Parabolic_...t_Water_Heater Comments and suggestions are most welcome! Have a great afternoon! Last edited by frazelle09; 12-28-14 at 03:43 PM.. Thanks for the post! Well, i think that this is the theoretical output of the unit - it's based on double that of the Canadian design that it borrows from which is only half as wide. However hopefully next week we'll have the tracker challenge solved and will be able to move on to figureing out what the real-world production is.
Again, thanks for posting and have a great evening!

The documentation and design perspectives, market, goals, design are all excellent. This IS engineering!

Steve, i really appreciate your comment. Actually i'm at a loss for words.
Our degrees in Psychology and Social Development have at least pointed us in this direction... and then necessity came along - lol. Thanks again for your comment and please feel free to add suggestions, comments to our Appropedia page. Have a super morning!
