pathetic:
Providence, RI 02903 Month Weather Report - AccuWeather.com

no real snow here this year yet! just a freak ice storm snowtober on oct 31st? wtf?

in providence its supposed to snow in the winter, we usually get 2 or 3 big storms and a bunch of little snowfalls each year

36 inches of snow a year at least.. this year

see
Annual Rhode Island rainfall, severe weather and climate data

read further for this:
Historic flooding occurred in Rhode Island during March 2010. 16.32" of rain fell on Providence, which is the
most rain recorded in any month, beating the previous record of 15.38" set in October 2005. The Pawtuxet
River flooding exceeded all-time records, which date back to 1939

by the way that was 16 inches in one day in some areas i think

What happened between 2000 and 2012?? (When Global Warming stopped)?

By 2010, it should have been peaking.. It seems like the Sun missed her cycle..
Now, it's seems to be coming back. Knock wood..

This video series will cover all the basic science:

potholer54's Channel - YouTube

Of course the sun is very important to driving temps -- the record low in sunspots has meant we have not had as much solar heat, but the average temps have still been climbing. When the sunspot activity picks up, we should see even warmer temps on average.

I hope it picks up. So far, it's showing some promise, but nothing to write home about..

Some folks (and some at at the US National Solar Observatory (NSO) and US Air Force Research Laboratory)
are starting to think we might be slipping into another 'Maunder Minimum'..
Earth may be headed into a mini Ice Age within a decade ? The Register

If we get a full recovery of normal sun spot numbers, then we can
worry about the temperature going up..
Otherwise, we might need to start thinking about 30 HP snow throwers..
(Or moving to South Texas)..

More of Xringer's un-digested disinformation, this spewed out by Patrick Michaels...

Funding from energy or fossil fuel companies
On January 25, 2011, Rep. Henry Waxman sent a letter to Rep. Fred Upton seeking to call in Michaels for questioning about his science and funding. In the letter, Waxman wrote that Pat Michaels testified before the Energy and Commerce Committee in February 2009 "that widely accepted scientific data had 'overestimated' global warming and that regulation enacted in response to that data could have 'a very counterproductive effect.' Among the scientists who testified before this Committee on the issue of climate change in the last Congress, Pat Michaels was the only one to dismiss the need to act on climate change ... Dr. Michaels may have provided misleading information about the sources of his funding and his ties to industries opposed to regulation of emissions responsible for climate change."[14]

On July 27, 2006 ABC News reported that a Colorado energy cooperative, the Intermountain Rural Electric Association, had given Michaels $100,000.[15] An Associated Press report said that the donations had been made after Michaels had "told Western business leaders ... that he was running out of money for his analyses of other scientists' global warming research" and noted that the cooperative had a vested interest in opposing mandatory carbon dioxide caps, a situation that raised conflict of interest concerns.[16]

According to Fred Pearce, fossil fuel companies have helped fund Michaels' projects, including his World Climate Report, published every year since 1994, and his "advocacy science consulting firm", New Hope Environmental Services.[17]
This guy in 'on the take' with Energy Companies who stand to profit from his dis-information.

At least he is a clever enough fraud to profit from his dis-information.

Xringer just relays it it on, undigested for free.

Why is this crap still posted to the conservation section?

It has nothing what so ever to do with conservation.

The videos I posted also debunk all those charts and more.

Here's the National Snow and Ice Data Center page on the Arctic ice:

Arctic Sea Ice News & Analysis

Here's NOAA's FAQ on global warming:

Global Warming Frequently Asked Questions

NOAA has lots of good info on the climate:

NCDC: Global Climate Change

Here's the Pew Center on Climate Change:

Global Warming Facts and Figures | Center for Climate and Energy Solutions

Some information from NASA on climate change:

Climate Change: Evidence

Follow the data to it's source. Anthropogenic (human caused) climate change is real, it is very serious, and we do not have much time to sit around debating it.

Good work Neil.

I really do not understand what Xringer expects to accomplish by cutting & pasting all this disinformation onto a DIY green website.

He says he has grandchildren and is concerned about their future, but his concern only extends to their financial future, he doesn't seem to understand that they could be inheriting a ravaged earth, and no amount of tax cuts will compensate for that.

I am tempted to say that there was something in the Texas water (that's where he grew up) that short-circuited his thought process, but that would be selling short the really excellent, bright Texans who ARE able to differentiate the truth from the trash.

Ultimately he's just a patsy for big energy... sad.

I'm just trying to point out, there are other viewpoints around..

And, this past summer, global weather science got a new big new player..

Lawrence Solomon: Science getting settled | FP Comment | Financial Post

The science is not settled.. The sun and the clouds are taking center stage in the debate.
CO2 might just be demoted to a bit player..

Before long, we may want to look at theories about climate change,
that were published before August of 2011 with at least, a little bit of skepticism.

I'm very interested in seeing how this new data will be integrated into computer models.
Hopefully, we will get a clearer picture of what actions need be done..
Before wasting trillions, going down dead end alleys..

The science is a settled as it needs to be -- the remaining questions are about details and amplifying forcings, etc. But the big picture is *very* clear -- anthropogenic climate change is upon us.

The sun and clouds and all the rest are already fully accounted for in the science -- *please* take the time to view the series of videos I linked to.

Edit: here's another video debunking the "mini-ice age":

To ignore the scientific consensus is folly. We need to change our energy sources, and we need to dump factory farming, and disposable stuff (designed for the dump!) and we need to stop pretending that we are not part of the environment. The earth is a finite planet, and a growth economy is a fallacy, and oil was the Viagra of our little economic party.

What kind of world are we leaving to our descendents?
