Not your average solar power: Energy Tower
Another thing I found surfing today. Its a tower, cools air that enters from the top like a swamp cooler, and has wind turbines on the bottom to generate power via the cold air falling. Very interesting concept.

Here is another similar concept. This one uses underground heat pump technology in addition to the tower.
