It was cloddy yesterday so the fish water started out cool and got cooler.
In the morning the fish water was 60F that is too cold for the fish. The greenhouse went to about 50F.
It was cold today but sunny I was able to heat the fish water up to 67F. That was pretty good.
If I did not have tilapia I would not need backup heat for the fish water. I will be installing my 1,000 watt 240V SS commercial heater. Even know NG hot water heat is so much more efficient I have been making more power then we use in a year I would rather use it to heat fish water that sell it to the power company for a whole sale price.

I have a monitoring system I will be installing shortly. It can monitor up to 6 items plus a power outage. It has alarms and a web interface. It will text and or email when there is an issue.
I tested it today it has tons of options.
When I trench for the gas line I will install conduit with cat 5 cable for the monitoring system.

Google earth took a new picture.
I bought the conduit wire and natural gas supplies to install, Power NG and cat5 wiring. I just need to rent a trencher and get the trenching done.
Home Depot rents a 24" trencher $97 for 4 hours. That should work for me.

For the Cat 5 cable I bought 1” conduit just in case I ever want to run another cable.
Here are the plants the DWC filter is working so well I am very happy with it.

You can see my wife's horses bottom right.

I am going to install my NG tankless vent free hot water heater in the closed loop fish tank heater that I have now.

I will put in 4 ½ valves and two tees so if the sun is out I will run the closed loop heater the way I do today. Then the sun can heat the water at night or cloudy days I can use the NG hot water heater.

The outdoor temp went down to 26.6 F last night. The greenhouse went down to 52 F the fish water is 60F not bad but too cold for the fish. It is 37 F outside today and 67F in the greenhouse. I hope the sun comes out for a while today so I can heat up the fish water.
I have most the stuff to connect up power and natural gas to the greenhouse I hope to get to this project soon.

The goal is to heat the fish water on days with no sun. Keeping the fish water warmer will keep the fish eating better all the time. This in turn will help the plants grow better. At this point I am finishing my plan for the greenhouse. I have had hot water heater for over a year it is time to get this installed.

The greenhouse natural gas tankless fish tank heater is one step closer. I have the ¾ line stubbed out. I need to paint the pipe to keep it from rusting.

We have 1 ¼ gas coming into the house with a commercial gas meter. I use to run NG heat and we had a tankless water heater with a 40 gallon tank and vent free gas logs. Now we don’t use the NG heat we don’t have the 40 gallon NG hot water tank. The new tankless heater in the greenhouse uses is 38,000 BTU the old NG tanked heater was more BTU’s than that.
So I have plenty of NG capacity.

I have the places where I need to trench marked up. It was raining off and on today and cold. I am hopping I can have nice enough dry weather tomorrow so I can rent the trencher.

It rained off and on here again today. So no trenching but I still made some progress.
I put three 2X4's up to mount the Hardie board to.
I mounted the water heater to a Hardie board.

It does not look like much work but it is mounted behind the fish tank making it much harder to install.

I bought an air vent for the new closed loop heating system. (this was Junk)

I bought new Pex pipe with Oxygen barrier for heating systems.

I did not know about this Pex I should have used it from the beginning.

I am going to stub a Tee by my natural gas meter for a future quick connector for my generator.

I found some other people using the same closed loop vent free tankless heater for their fish. 500 gallon tanks in MI it was costing about $10 in NG for a month while keeping the fish tank at a constant temp.

One step closer. I rented the trencher today. I rented it for four hours and I just made it. I have a couple places I need to clean out the trench where I have to get close to the buildings. I would say that was worth $113 It did take longer than I thought it would. I trenched 130’ the turns were no fun.

I once borrowed a trencher. It was cheap and was of half-baked design..
It worked, but threw too many rocks.. Broke one basement storm window!
Got my big drain pipes buried.. And reduced the basement flooding by 50%!!

And reduced the basement flooding by 50%!! __________________ My hobby is installing & trying to repair mini-splits EPA 608 Type 1 Technician Certification ~ 5 lbs or less..
