Fridge curtain to keep the air from falling out?

haven't done it, but intrigued. what about those thick strips of plastic for workshop doorways?

I always thought about doing this. Haven't though because we dont have a fridge.
Thats why chest freezers are so efficient, no air falls out when you open the door. Have you guys seen the kits for sale that converts the thermostat on a chest freezer to operate as a fridge...it uses less than 1/3 the energy of a regular fridge.

I'd think any plastic would work - clear makes sense, of course.

If you own the fridge, you could make a top hatch, or put a hatch in the door.

Or, just lay the thing down on its back. I think Trebuchet did that.

It is simple, all you do is put an external thermostat on it with a temp probe that goes into the freezer. Apparently they only run several minutes per hour and are much quieter than a reg. fridge. One problem is that it is much harder to organize and get to things in it.

one super simple mod would be to raise the front of the fridge up a bit, so less air would fall out and the door would seal tightly.

Or industrial freezers. Grocery stores have 'em. The local wallyworld has clear vinyl in a few different thicknesses would be cheap, like fifty cents or so, and should work o.k.
