Now that I can post the images.
This is how it looked like when it started getting oval.

Then I continued bending the bigger pipe at a different place without dowel. I think it looks a little better but will it work? This is how it looks now.

That doesn't look bad in the second picture. A little flat spot doesn't really reduce the the flow that much. It should work just fine.

When I was bending the line set tubes down at the outdoor unit connections,
I started getting a flat spot. I just stopped and moved up the line a little and finished the bend.
I think the fat item I was trying to use for a dowel had slipped a little and caused a bit of a too-tight bend.
I didn't try if 'fix' it, since it was so slight. I just moved the bend down the tube.

Here's a real kink in a heat pump line..

That is a relief. I did exactly what you explained in you post. The only difference is in my case the dowel was making a bigger curve which did not fit in the slimduct. So I just moved a little backward and bent the pipe starting inside the wall sleeve as much as possible. The big pipe on the LG is not that soft.

It's a closeup shot from my iPhone. The Unit is 12000 BTU. It looks big because there is no other context to compare in the picture.

Actually, there is a hand in the background.. But, it could be a baby's hand.?.
Or maybe the hand of a petite woman?

I looked up some specs on the LG 12k BTU units and it looks like most of their units use 1/4" and 1/2" lines a few of their units use 1/4" and 3/8" lines, with the 3/8" being part of the more efficient 18.7 and 20 SEER models I ran into.

It seems Fujitsu has 1/4" and 3/8" lines on their super high SEER 9k(26) and 12k(25) units.

gogigaga, Is your lineset 1/4" and 1/2" lines?

Those ArtCool indoor units are the best looking. I'm glad my wife didn't
see those before I got the Sanyo. I like the functional look myself.
But, now that our living room has been re-done..?.

Maybe our next system will have a stylish indoor unit..

I was just kidding about the hand.. I have smallish hands for a big guy.
I shoulda been a surgeon!

So, how is the work coming? Doing a pressure test? Or going right to
the vacuum pump?

I think pressure testing is a good idea, due to the shape of the flare.
IMHO, it's going to seal tighter under vacuum, but under pressure,
if there are any problems, they should show up quickly at high PSI.
