My Big Green Egg Vent cover had one of its ears broken off making an extra hole in the top. Lucky for me the guy that sold it to me saved the broken piece. JB weld to the rescue wire wheel and some high temp black paint. It looks so much better now.
Yes I could have bought a new one for $50 but this one looks new now. I had the paint from a different project and the JB weld from another project so this only cost some time and work to get looking good again. Now back to the Greenhouse project.

I can't tell what ear was broken.?. But the refurb job made it look brand new!
I watched some video 'tips' about that top.. Rotate the lettering so it's in the back. You have to stand behind the Egg to read it. Then, when you lift the lid and it tilts back, the raised lettering holds upper plate from sliding open..

It is the ear that has a hole through it. It is the one in the back so you really can’t see where it is broken in the picture. I have it sitting where I want it to go in the picture.
Nice tip and it works. I put up the metal roofing on the front boxing.

I am getting very close to being done with the roof.
One small piece of metal and some flashing at the top. It is going to rain tomorrow so I will work on it some more this afternoon.

All the flat surfaces are done on the roof except trim and the flashing in some places. It was ready for the crazy rain we are getting
I setup my work lights last night until it started to rain I got almost two layers of foam insulation on the back wall. I know it does not look very good but it is reclaimed insulation and will all be covered. It is tongue and groove so it fits together very well. After the next layer the 1 x 4 nailers will up. This is our weather today and all last night. I fed the fish some corn today they loved it.

I finished my second layer insulation on the back wall. Then I used spray foam on the seams and imperfections. It was really too wet to do night ops.

I am installing the third and final layer insulation on the back wall 4.5” Dow blue board insulation.
Every wall stud will get a treated 1 x 4 and five 8.5 “ HeadLok FastenMaster Structural wood screw. They say they are a “3/8” lag screw replacement” The cement fiber board will be attached to the 1 x 4. The siding is really just for looks so I will move on the something else and come back to putting that up. HeadLOK Flat Head Deck Framing Screw Seams are all staggered then spray foam will fill in any gaps. It feels like I am building a sideways cooler.

I thought I would show the sad plant state my garden is in. I have been too busy building to do any planting. After insulation some drums and vents… then bring on the plants.
I thought I had lost this pepper plant but it is coming back to life.

I spent the day working on making a cooler at least that is what it felt like. I made pretty good progress.
It got down to 29 F last night but the greenhouse was 41 this morning. The fish water only lost 3 degrees. Not too bad.

I have the insulation done except for a couple small pieces at the top. I have used lots of spray foam. Later I will tape the seams that are not sealed with foam.
Last night it was 35 F outside the greenhouse did not go lower than 46F.
