Default Hello From Bloomington, IL

Just saying hello. Joining a couple forums for solar power related info on DIY projects. I'll probably have questions for you all when I get started.
Thanks

Welcome to the site.

How big of a setup are you thinking about building?

Default Small Setup

I'm thinking of cobbling together a system that would be used only during power outages to (mostly) run a standard sized AC fridge/freezer for up to 2 full days. I'm pretty sure of the components I need but not really how "beefy" they need to be. Just kind of kicking it around & learning stuff online.

How large is the daily load of your refrigerator?

That where you would start...

Yup, if you don't have one already. I'd suggest picking up a kill a watt. It'll measure your fridge's (and anything else you plug into it) power consumption. That will help you size your system and in general reduce energy consumption, and find phantom loads.
