It is treated with boric acid (naturally occurring in a solid form) which makes it essentially fireproof. Check out the video on this page. It's some folks I know out here who install cellulose. Cellu-Spray: Home
I have seen him do the same trick but he then pours the melted penny on a bat of fiberglass and it goes right through. I have plenty of 3rd party documentation describing the fire retardant properties of cellulose if you are interested. |

Update. Finished first steps of project. Garage is done. Insulation seems to be working so far so good, although I guess the real test will be this winter, summers I'm not really worried about.
