Emergency power
This would be great in a emergency, camping or even a remote off grid cabin.
You can build it yourself or buy it already made. Check it out. ("free energy" as in solar) Forum SONL1 V3 > |

This is EXACTLY what I've been hoping to find! And it's open source, even.
Is the Joule Ringer a way to just use DC? I'm confused that he just used an AC bulb on it... Last edited by NeilBlanchard; 07-10-13 at 03:03 PM.. |

It can run LED bulbs, CFL bulbs and some low voltage incandescent bulbs. Open source is the only way to go... > |

The solar panel with battery is now being built and sold by several people around the country:
SOLN1 V3 Units Now for Sale – Smart All-in-One Portable Solar Solution | Laser Hacker Alternative Energy SOLN1 | SOLN1 - Portable AC Solar Power Unit This is a really cool thing, I think. They are not cheap at $400 (or $499 from the builder in Tennessee) but they would be worth it. SolNbox Personal Solar Emergency Generators The Model 300 listed here: SolNbox Products would probably work with your own panels. |

Here's an excellent video on the Joule Ringer:
Super Joule Ringer 3.0 | Laser Hacker Alternative Energy It produces an AC power from a DC source with very high efficiency. I wonder if it could be used as an AC motor controller? |
