I recycle soda PET bottles and use them as a funnel for refilling fluids and as a planter for seedlings

Every Christmas I get gifts of wine so after drowning in alcohol, I clean and steam the bottles (leave water and baking soda mixture overnight to remove odor and taste) then use it as containers for drinking water and juices in the fridge.

My favorite has to be Paul Masson wine because of the unique shape and snap on lid

I skip having to recycle or find ways to reuse plastic milk jugs by buying milk in glass bottles that I take back to the store for their $1.50 cash deposit.

I've also taken up needing to find friends who drink soda so I can take their plastic soda bottles and refill them, I have a Co2 tank and soda kegs that I can fill with whatever I want and carbonate it to make it fizzy, it's much cheaper then buying a huge bottle of water that has a bit of sugar and Co2 in it.

Glass bottles are a tough one tho, I don't like having to recycle glass because it takes 10 times as much energy to recycle a glass bottle as it does to wash it and refill it, but it takes 100 times more energy to make a glass bottle out of brand new glass, but when you melt down glass there is no waste, no slag other then the dirt, but to avoid that energy it takes to recycle glass buying wine in a box seems like the best option, a box holds 4 to 6 bottles worth and the plastic liner is less plastic then 4 to 6 plastic corks.

I wish we had Milk in glass bottles. Plastic makes it taste funny and the cardboard isn't recyclable.
