Cut costs by harnessing outdoor heat with a solar wall
Don't have the time, patience or money to make your own solar hot air panels? How about just bolting a sheet of black metal to the south side of your house and pulling air through it? Thats really all this is. Cheap and easy solution! Have your HRV pull air through this and you'd almost never have a problem with icing up during the day.
I think I'll be informing my employer about this. They have a decent south facing wall. Cut costs by harnessing outdoor heat with a solar wall - The Globe and Mail

I've seen that one before. Material they use almost looks like vented soffit material.

Interesting, I like that they use their HRV to pull the warm air in. We have a HRV in our house and it would be nice to encorporate that into a hot air panel and pull in warm air instead of cool air during the winter and since it runs anyways why not utilize that. Got me thinking now.
