You can do power factor correction on motors and transformers.
All my welders and air compressorsare power factor corrected.
I tried to power factor correct cheap low power factor florescent lights, but adding capacitors made the power factor worse.
Might be able to power factor correct magnetic ballasts some what.
Cheap power supplies create phase distortion.
