Default An idea to test insulation

Lately it "snowed" (in fact melted snow and hail) by here. I took a picture of my PV solar panels covered of white :

The fun is that at that moment they were producing

Then I looked at my neighborhood and saw a "snow hole" on a white roof. This made me though he has an insulation problem and looked at my whole roof (west and east sides) :

This is logical that there is no "snow hole" on my roof as the insulation isn't under the roof, but horizontally over the ceiling, ie we can't use the space under the roof.

This test can't say you if your insulation is good, but sometimes it can say you that it's bad.

Denis.

  • Short life (<300 years) : 31.7 g/yr (10.0 mg/kWh)
Based upon "official" French figures...

How you don't mind that I fixed the images in your post,

Also, yeah. Up at school where most of the buildings are 200 years old it's really easily to tell the difference looking at one of those building and comparing to the new 2 year old dorms the day after a 1 foot snowfall,
