Default retrofit coils

Hi all,

I currently have a 30 tube 300 litre solar water heater, with integrated horizontal tank. I want to put a coil into this and put mains pressure cold water in one end, and get lovely piping hot out of the other end. Does anyone have a supplier that does finned flexible 15mm (1/2") copper or stainless steel pipe that I can cut into my tank. It is in 3 internal sections, with a 15mm pipe between each, so seriously limits my original plan of using a Plate Heat Exchanger, as no matter what size I try, I cannot flow the store water fast enough to get a decent flow of mains hot to the taps.

TIA

Default Just a thought..

If you are not getting enough pressure running your domestic hot water thru your solar tank, could you possibly turn that solar tank into a closed loop system and run that hot water into the house and thru a solar hot water heater with heat exchanger inside the tank?

The solar hot water heater could have an electric back up heating element to maintain temp on cloudy days.

or, you could run it thru a similar tank in the house to preheat the water entering your existing hot water heater.

just some thoughts..
You'd of course have to run glycol thru the system to prevent freezing but it beats tearing apart a perfectly good stainless steel tank to insert a coil.
