Default Pop Can Solar Heater

Hey all, I'm new to the forum but I can see there's alot of interesting projects going on here... can't wait till I have some time to try them!

I've been looking alot at ways to heat my garage this winter and came across alot of these 'pop can' solar heaters. There are many different variations (check out 'pop can solar heater' on youtube, or google it. This is one link I found on builditsolar.com -

beer-horse by sztgyi

- he does a nice job, like I said there are tons of people making different variations of this heater. One other one I like on youtube uses aluminum downspout tubes along with the cans.

I'm also looking for designs for passive solar water heaters and heat storage mediums to store the heat when not required. So far it's looking like the best way to store heat is in an insulated water tank... does anyone have any other ideas? I've heard there's a guy around Elie that has a green house operating year round that uses some kind of sand as a heat sink... I'd like to see that!

Anyways, nice site, I'll be loitering often!

Welcome to the site cdig.

That has got to be the largest pop can solar panel I've ever seen. I love the idea. Free garage heat is always nice too.
