Default Refrigerant Charging Scale review

The UPS guy left it out in the cold rain, but it's working fine!
Here's the link back to the device..
http://ecorenovator.org/forum/sale-t...2478-09-a.html

The scale body itself is made from aluminum castings. It seems pretty well made.
The remote display is light plastic (8 oz) and will likely crack if dropped.
It's not detachable and has a removable hatch for the 9V battery, and also has a fold-down leg-stand for angle viewing.

The 17.8 lb recovery tank displays as 17.85 lbs (Plastic mesh etc removed) which I think is pretty good.
I've played with weights off-and on the scale, zeroing the scale with different weights on it, and the repeatably is dead on..

The time-out is 10 minutes. I tried leaving it turned on and adding and removing some weight at 5 minutes, and it still timed-out..
Next, I'm going to try cycling the display mode from lbs to kg and oz, to see if that extends the time-on longer..
That worked. Before the 10 min mark, I cycled the Units button and that resets the 10 min time-out.
I ran the scale for about 30 min with no time-out. Just need to run a loud beeping repeating timer, to remind me to cycle the Units.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/381849647091

China delivers. Got two little 2.25x2.25" timers today..
LCD Digital Large Kitchen Cooking Timer Count-Down Up Clock Loud Alarm Reminder | eBay
(Same timer is sold by other vendors)..

The both timers work fine.. Loud, but not too loud. These are going to work great
for keeping my scale refreshed during long operation cycles..
Once the timer starts beeping, it does not stop by itself!
Once it goes off, I can hit the Start/Pause twice (once stop, second time re-starts)
and get another per-selected timing cycle..

The quality of these timers is pretty good for the price..
The buttons work well and there is a 'Beep' when one is pressed.
If the display is left at "00:00" pressing the start/pause will cause an Up-count.
The two position magnetic flip down is nice for getting a good viewing angle.
The magnet is too weak.. Slides down the refrigerator..

These came with "Heavy Duty" AAA cells, which I'm using for testing.
Before actual use, I'll install a fresh AAA alkaline cell in the timer I use.
And remove it when I'm done. (The display stays on "00:00")..
Since I'll likely only be using the scale a couple times a year.. I hope!

I feel dumb for not noticing this feature before..
1. Turn on scale.
2. Press Zero/Tare. (for primary calibration).
3. Place weight (recovery tank) on scale.
4. Press Zero/Tare again, so the scale will remember that weight as a secondary calibration number.
5. The display will show 00:00 (But, if you lift up a 17.20 lb tank, -17.20 will be displayed).
6. Any weight (like R410a) added or taken away from the weight/tank on the scale will be displayed. (+ or -).

Timeout and the display goes dark. No big deal. You can come back hours later,
and press the Off-On button to wake up the scale and,
it will display the difference between the current weight and the weight saved in memory..
The Zero/Tare (or secondary calibration) weight (empty tank?) you saved in step 4 will stay in memory,
until you press the Z/T button again.. Regardless of the display shutting off.
