What do you do when you can't sleep?
I went to bed early but since i usually only get 6 or so hours of sleep I've been wide awake since 3:00.
I'm wondering what everyone else does when wide awake in the middle of the night? My normal is reading/research online. Tonight it's arduino datalogger design using maxim one wire temperature probes since they were nice enough to send me two as samples. |

It doesn't happen often to me. When it does I do whatever I feel like at the time, watch TV, read a book, or do something online perhaps.

When I can't get to sleep, it's because there's some very specific reason I'm too excited or anxious to sleep. I get out of bed, have some bacon sandwiches, and hash it out.
When I wake up, fully rested, way before the alarm (almost never happens), it's a windfall of super-productive time to work on projects. |

I wish I could do projects. Any noise will have the wife, toddler or baby up and that would be a bad bad thing.

When I was a kid, I learned DIY self-hypnosis.
When I go to bed, I might want to think about problems or projects for a while, but when I want to get some sleep, I'm cutting Zzzs within a couple of minutes.. The only time I can't sleep, is after I wake up in the morning. If it's after 7AM, I rarely get back to sleep. |
