I've looked at a few MPPT parts on the web and have not seen many items that looked like they would be very easy get working.
Too many small parts add to the complexity and cost.

For a 26AH battery, it seems like a 60W PV panel would be more than power to do the job, using a regular charger circuit.
If that's not enough, I would most likely just buy a cheap Chinese MPPT charge controller.

I don't think that I could build a DIY for under $20 USD..

Default solar tracker

Salut Dane

Multumesc anticipat

The MTM tracker uses relays. If the motor current is high (mine was only a couple of amps at 12V),
the relays will slowly wear out.
It might take a long time with light power loading or, the relays might fail in one summer.

The RedRock tracker will last longer, since it uses transistors, instead of relays.

Hi
I am in the process of building my solar tracker and appeared to the tracker you bought looks reasonable and simple out so I will ask if you still have the papers from the (diagram and the other stuff) and if you want to send copies to me

LED3X Solar Tracker Assembly

I love my RedRock tracker. This one has been working great for a couple of years now.

That MTM board with the relays couldn't even last a summer. Plus, the photo sensors included were too sensitive to heat.
Not a good characteristic for a device you are going to leave out in direct sun light.
But, MTM has a new model now.. Solar Tracker Circuit Kit
with more features, but it still uses the old relay tech, instead of power MOSFETs.
Either type of MTM board might be good for a solar demonstration setup.
Where it wasn't required to run a tracker motor 365 days a year.

MTM keeps their circuit diagrams secret.
I think they want to people to buy their product, instead of copying it.

If you really want to use relays, there are simple circuits posted on the web..
Electronic Projects

"This is about the simplest tracker I know of. It uses a Radio Shack 275-249A relay. Adjust the sensitivity of the CdS cells with a Sharpie permanent marker as described bellow, in the Chace tracker. The picture tells it all.

This tracker is not as accurate as the electronic tracker but quite sufficient for use with PV panels.

While the proof of concept is good it will burn the relay contacts. This is caused by the relays being turned on or off slowly. It melted the plastic case on the relays. "

Here's another relay tracker for those who fear the transistor..

This one looks pretty good. If you build one of these, be sure to use socket-type relays, so you can replace them when they die..

Just looked for Solar trackers on Ebay and it's nice to see there are products similar
to the RedRock starting to show up..

Category 1 items in Richardsfoundry store on eBay!

Wow this can do 10A at 12Vdc?? That's 120 watts of motor drive!

If my RedRock gets zapped, I know where my next tracker board is coming from!
