Unfortunately, that motor is going to be too small. But, it looks like you can salvage some parts out of it.

In the first picture I see two contactors. Those are the cylindrical things the heavy gauge wire is going to.

If it has a charger, you can use that.

The wire is probably a bit small for reuse. The controller is also probably not going to handle the extra power that the burnisher will need.

Okay gotcha, if I didn't get a controller would the motor just be spinning at max all the time then? Or is their a way to just put a cap on the speed? I was browsing this site http://www.electricmotorsport.com/ev-parts/controllers and they can be pretty expensive. So that may be something I have to live without initially.

Upon doing some more research, the batteries that these companies are putting in their machines are massive. That weight I listed earlier of 270lbs was before batteries. After is nearly 600lbs!! I didn't realize how massive a 228ah battery is. They weigh over 100lbs each. Not what I am looking for.

However I did find this smaller machine Tornadovac Products which only weighs 138lbs with two gel batteries. It also claims a 2 hour run time with only a 24v system. So it seems like it is very possible to get around 3 hours with a 36v system. The more I've been researching I think I will just bite the bullet and get a controller and throttle control as well.

Do you have any battery recommendations for me? Anything in the 50lb weight range per battery is what I'm aiming for. We use these NAPA AUTO PARTS in our small floor scrubbers which are 24v. They seem to do pretty good, but maybe you have a better option to recommend.
