Yes they run all the time but the compressor does not run all the time.
It is noticeable when the outside temp is close to the inside temp. On say a rainy day it will get to
57-60 % but today when they run more it is 52%.

I have both indoor units mounted. Tomorrow I will put the outside units in.

I was able to get my nitrogen from the gas place I get my CO2 filled. We have a couple fountain soda machines. $10 for a full cylinder and just need to return it when I get my next CO2 filled. That worked out well.

I took a picture of the outdoor unit wiring because I remembered they only color code the outside unit. The number both sides but I had the numbers and the color code.

The one install is not ideal they want it 6” inches from the wall but I wanted it to point out the door so in winter I can open his door when it is real cold. I will let that unit help heat the house the rest of the house.

Outdoor units are part way installed. Both units mounted and line sets are installed.
One unit pressure tested and vacuumed down to 166 microns I kept it under 200 microns for a couple hours.

I can see the new one saying hey big guy to my right you are an electric alcoholic.
I just sip electric everything is better in moderation.

Here is the new inverter MS beside the 4 ton AC only energy hog.
I then released the Freon on that unit just before the rain.

I could not pressure test the other unit because I only have one 5/8 adapted.

It was a 95 deg. so I did not get as much done as I thought I would.
I still need to do all the electric. For being 95 out it was a pretty good day.

I have been busy with work this week.
I did pressure test the second system and left in for four days. Today I put new oil in the vacuum pump and put it to work. I left it under 500 microns for a good three hours. Then I released the Freon.

Now both units and charged up and ready to be put to work. I have to do the electrical this weekend.
It is close now and both boys are excited to get them running.

Here is a picture of the install. It went right where my shutter was. I will have to take down the other one later. My builder thought I was funny putting shutters on the back of the house. He was like who is going to see them anyway. I see the back more than the front and I put them on for me not everyone else. But I will give this setup for being green.

I just looked at this thread, and you have probably finished your install, and everything is probably going to work out fine for you.

But it's never too late to mention that the refrigeration geeks I have observed, specify "dry nitrogen", since they not only want a gas that will not interact with the refrigeration gas, but they also want very low water content. Dry nitrogen can be obtained from refrigeration supply houses, or they would know where to go.

I know that some paintball people recommend paintball nitrogen, but water content does not affect paintball, so there is no way of knowing what the water content might be.

Thanks for the info.
I get my CO2 at a welding supply company. They also have a high purity line of gases. They ask me what I would be doing with the nitrogen and supplied me with the correct nitrogen.
They also supply medical gases.

The boys Mini Split install is done. The load center is now full anything else I add I will need a subpanel.

It was a lot of crawling under the house. The boy’s rooms are as far away from the breaker panel as you can get. The boy’s rooms were very comfortable yesterday and last night.

It is kind of crazy just a little over a year ago I was asking about installing a system. Now I have installed three single zone mini splits and one duel zone mini split.

My neighbor had a new HVAC installed with an efficient HVAC with inverted compressor $15,000. They say it will save him money but that will take a long time. I have some money in my systems but no way near that kind of money and my units are much more efficient than his.
His HVAC is nice and he did not have to do any work but pay for it.

I ended up with 3.75 ton inverter mini splits and I still have a 4 ton AC I could make this house into a refrigerator. I also have this heating capacity with a 100k-125k btu gas heat so cold winter I am ready for you. We only turned on the 4 ton AC twice this summer for a few hours. I hope to do the same for the gas heat over the winter.

I want to thank others on here for answering my questions and posting their installs. I had never installed any HVAC other than a thermostat. So if you come to this site thinking about doing a DIY install mini split you can do it also. Just read lots ask some questions and don’t take any short cuts. Have a very good attention to detail. Buy or borrow the right tools.

Make sure the line sets and secured tied up you do not want to move them at all once you pressure test them.

Install and start saving money.

Congrats ! :-)

I have a 4 ton central unit , that I did not crank , even once , this summer .

We used the 12,000 btu mini split in the living room / dining room . We have 4 window A/C's in other rooms . But they are only run when needed .

This lets us cool only the rooms we are occupying .

God bless

Thanks.
I bet that has saved you some $$$ this summer.

I really agree on the zooning. I went to their rooms today to check on the units. All three of our bedrooms were at different temps and the living room was also set to a different temp. It is very nice my oldest likes it colder than everyone else and my youngest likes it warmer than everybody.

We just usually keep ours constant. One kid’s bedroom is on the south side and the other is on the north. Our house is just more comfortable for each person living here now.
They both used the sleep mode last night. We have not used that mode yet.

I almost got them the cheaper model that did not have sleep mode. I am glad I did not do that and later if I have an issue it will be much easier to have three units the same to trouble shoot the issue.
