Default LED Lights powered by discarded batteries

Surfing today I found this. They are street lamps that are powered by discarded batteries. The batteries don't have enough juice to power any electronic gadgets, but do have enough left in them to power some LEDs.

I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to do something similar for a night light. Maybe use a LED flashlight and modify it?

We call them "Joule thieves." and they are great for finishing off batteries. (or reconditioning rechargeable batteries.)
