My belated intro! (Not from Nigeria!)

Hi Big Al, sorry, I guess I didn't properly introduce myself here

My name is Mark, I live in White Salmon, Washington USA which is in the Columbia River Gorge, just across the river from Hood River Oregon, one of the best places in the world for wind surfing (though I don't do that

) .
I am a substation maintenance electrician for Bonneville Power Administration, Department of Energy. I have been an electrician in the Navy Seabees, as well as through IBEW Local 48 for many years before coming to BPA 10 years ago. I have since a child been interested in energy conservation, reading Mother Earth News, and any other books and magazines on the subject I could find, but still consider myself a learner in all this! I guess I'm also a "jack of all trades and master of none", having a well-rounded education growing up on a farm, then joining the Navy!

So, though I have been to Africa several times, no I am not from Nigeria

What projects are you working on at the moment?

Hi Big Al, latest project here today was fixing some electrical in the attic and putting plywood catwalks in place for insulating on Friday. We will be blowing in cellulose to R-49. I hope that will cut my electric bill this winter. As you can see from the excel spreadsheet I uploaded yesterday my highest month was over $300. It will be interesting how much better it will be this winter!

Ouch, $300. I feel your pain. The first year we were in our house we had a bill in January that tipped the $300 mark. A couple years later now and a lot of small renovations and our worst bills are now under $200.
