No, a company named Seek Thermal has sued its way in bed with FLIR to produce a product for the Android market. AC_Hacker made mention of it previously, but did not elaborate on the back story.

It could possibly be used to find what sections of the condenser and evaporator coils are filled with liquid, vapor, or some combination of refrigerant, but a simple keychain IR thermometer will also work.

My mechanical engineer says the difference between the really cheap thermal imager and something like a FLIR or equivalent is a "cooled sensing element".
The first generation FLIR sensing elements were cooled with liquid nitrogen, now the newest generation only needs mild cooling that can be provided by solid state.
Since the thermal imager could be used along side a firearm I would like whatever imager I buy to also be of a weapons grade pedigree.
EDIT: The VT02 uses an uncooled sensor.

Why would you want that?

I thought that hunting at night was illegal in all states...

Night hunting is only out right illegal in certain states.
In other states night hunting is encouraged for hunting pests such as coyote or raccoon.
I am thinking more along the lines or pest elimination (not considered hunting), things like fox, fisher, porcupine, weasel or coyote that come to my house after dark and try to raid chicken coupe, fight my dogs or try to make a meal out of my cat.
Or to find a person or people who might try get into my detached garage.
