It appears that UK had its share of warm months too:
2011 is UK's second warmest year on record - Met Office
Quote:
This year saw high temperatures for lengthy periods; including the warmest April and spring on record, the second warmest autumn and the warmest October day.

'Unseasonably warm'
The mean temperature for the first 28 days of December was 4.7C (40.5F); a big swing from 2010, says the Met Office, when temperatures were 5C below average for the coldest December on record.
Meantime, the first 5 days of 2012 here are keeping the trend up with an average temperature of +4°C, while the same first days of 2011 averaged -4°C, and -8°C in 2010

So, the average over the last 3 years is -8C off the norm??

Wow, it's getting warm today!

But, I looked back at this day for the last five years,
and it seems like today's warming isn't all that rare..

Climatological Data

The question now becomes, walking or biking??

It takes at least 50 years to count as climate? The ground has only stayed frozen (on the surface) for about 4 days, and it thawed today for about the 6th time since it first froze. Yesterday, my brother Nathan slapped a *mosquito*. The maple trees are dripping sap...

100+ years ago they harvested ice from lakes around here in mid-December.

Default Wow! global warming today!!

These past few days have been pretty nice!!

Look at the left side of the chart and notice where Jan 28, 2011 temps were.
Then compare that to the right side of the chart on Jan 27,2012! It's amazing.
