When I talked to someone from Broan, the maker of vent fans, about how loud my bath vent fan was, they gave me the name of the independent lab that they were required to hire to get the rating that go on their label they said that the same lab gives them the numbers that they use for the energy stare label.
So far everything that I've tested with my Kill-a-watt has been dead on for energy usage, other then CFL light bulbs, they are always higher, every single one. |

I am sure a majority of those that manufacture our appliances report legit data but, there will always be a select few who inflate or fail to report accurate data.
Here's the latest from LG...I can understand making a mistake once but, with three? I would assume deliberate false claims..or "greenwashing" by inserting devices to circumvent readings outside laboratory conditions is corporate policy and starts from those at the top. The only way to be certain is to use Kill a Watt. Green fridge labelled a fraud LG accused of fridge fraud - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) |
