Default Should I enclose air handler in hot garage?

Question: Should I enclose my air handler that is in an unconditioned hot central Florida garage? Daily temps over 100 in garage(one exhaust fan and soffit vent around whole house)

I would build a 2x4 frame leaving about 2-3" from the unit, put insulation between studs and drywall the exterior. It will have removable panels so I can access the air handler for repairs so not 100% air tight but very close the joints won't be taped and mudded, I will run silicone on the joints to seal it, but easy to cut to remove panels.

Is it OK to build the wall within 3" of the unit or do you need more clearance?
Any negative that I am missing?
