A few years ago , we had a 2002 Buick Century . I replaced the GM V-5 compressor , accumulator and orifice . I was told to use PAG oil . Can not remember which viscosity .

When it gets warmer & will either have to replace the V-5 on a 1996 Chevy Lumina 4 door sedan , or replace the O-rings and seals on it . Will have to look it up , but I suspect it came from GM with PAG oil ?

God bless

That's an old design. Nowadays, a lot of automotive HVAC compressors are using POE, except Hyundai/Kia that use PVE.

GM switched to PAG 150 oil and R134a in like 93 or 94. Later (this century), they switched to thin PAG oil, like 40 wt or so.

You are probably correct . Our 1991 Caprice is R-12 . Or , it was , that is the car I am interested in converting .

The 1996 Lumina is R-134a .
