Default Chicken coop + Living roof

I just came across this...

A perfect example of how to make the most out of your chicken coop or rabbit hutch.

Not only does it have a living roof, but as it is also placed in a vegetable garden , you can reuse old straw, bedding and droppings as instant compost.

Does anyone have instructions on how this is made?

It doesn't look horribly hard to make. Just look at the picture and make up your own version.

I would cover the entire inside of the planter with ice&water or else the coop will have a short life indeed. Or you would have to cook up a good way to drain it

You're definitely right, I just need to experiment. I would definitely encounter a problem or two, but it's a challenge worth dealing with.

EPDM pond liner is used as the membrane under a lot of DIY living roofs. unlike ice/rain sheild there are no seams for roots to work at.

Thanks for the advice, you're right, why didn't I thought about that. I'll save that on my list of things to buy for this project.

Once again, thanks!
