I also found mounting and syncing really easy.

I just used the one rubber spacer that came with and set the little IR LED reader to the minimum distance and it seemed really close.

For those who don't know - power meters like these have a single infra-red LED on them that transmits a little tiny pulse of data, very similar to a television remote control.

The receiver on the power monitor device detects that little light blip and uses it to tell about your power usage.

Many video cameras can see near infra-red. Next time you are messing around with your home video camera - point your TV remote straight into the lens and press a button. You should see the LED in the end of the remote light up on the camera, when you can't see it to the naked eye!
