There are a few different types of kick-stand,
so you might not be able to make a universal system for holding every bike stationary.

But, it's not going to harm the bike to remove the kick-stand.
I removed the kick-stands from our two new bikes, so I could bend them in a vise.

Took me about about 2 minutes to re-install them.

A lot of bikes these days aren't sold with kick-stands.
Many people have a bike hook in their garage, and park in public bike racks
when they are out for a ride, so they can chain their bike to the rack.
If they have to chain it to a tree or signpost, they don't need a kick-stand.
