"omg" (drive in Tesla S)

I just had a drive in the new Tesla S. OMG............................................... ...................................

The owner had driven 80km the day before, charged it up for $.20 overnight. Figure it out, haha. It beats my 9L/100km truck hands down. No competition. Maybe 1/3 the cost to drive. Too bad it cost $80k

You pay for 7,2l almost 12 $ and him only 0,2 $ resulting in 1/60 if what you say is correct.

In my excitement I didn't put the right numbers down.

$1.30/L for my diesel or $9.36/80km for my truck or $.117/km

The Tesla worked out to $2.00 for the charge or $.025/km

Still beats fuel....

Now is wright. Yep, electricity beat fossil fuel, mostly due to efficiency.

I got to sit in one at the local showroom, but no test drive. I was impressed by everything I saw. There was a very cool cut-away frame-battery-drivetrain to drool over.

The model S is an all electric vehicle, not hybrid like the Volt. It pretty much is the closest car you can buy right now that can rival a gas car's range. You can buy it with either a 208 (per the EPA) mile range battery pack or 265 mile range pack. Acceleration of the car is rediculous. 5.9 second 0-60 if you have the small pack, 4.2 seconds if you have the 'performance' larger battery pack. The Volt is around 8.7 seconds (still no slouch). The Model S is 196" long versus the Volt 177". So, the Model S is significantly larger. You will also pay for all this.

The model S with the small pack starts at $62,400 US. However, the Volt isn't cheap either starting just under $40k.

That is a sweet car but the price is just too much for me. the Volt had the price dropped in 2014. By about $5,000 not to bad. You can still get a tax credit $7500 and some states have tax credits like SC has $2,000 for a limited amount of people.
