thats a nice kitchen.

That smaller socket is a candelabra base.

I was told (not sure how true this is because it was told to me by a kid who makes $7.75/hr) that all ceiling fans will be switching to bulbs with these small thread bulbs.

One trick for fixing bulb usage is to replace the switch with a timer (Turn knob or button). You can get them cheaply ($16 to $20 at Home Depot) and can pay for themselves in saved energy and bulbs. The spring turn knob type will work with CFL as well as Incandescent.

Bulbman.com has several in the e-12 base (32 on my last search) and up to 14 Watts.

I'm glad i found this thread, I have those types of small thread bulbs in our dining room chandelier. My wife loves that thing, so I wasn't able to convince her to change it out. Now I don't have to. Thanks for the info
