Very interesting device. I wouldn't mind trying one out. The movement of the mouse charges it up so you can use it.

Now if they'd only make a plastic one. I can't imagine what that thing would look like in a year. At least a plastic one doesn't absorb grime.

The piezo is not quartz like used to be used but a plastic that works even better, it's along the same lines as the cloths that will charge your cell phone, apparently some parking meters also use this piezo plastic to keep their battery charged, every time you toss a coin in it gives a little jolt.
You can use it to make buttons and switches that instead of closing a contact create a charge to turn the device on. |
