New Years Eve 2017-2018 !! And it's cold!
Here's the odd part.. The Sanyo has been using 500 to 700 watts to heat the den.. Still putting out hot air right now.. My sensors are showing between 3 and 6 deg F outside.. I turned it back on this morning when the temp got up over 9F.. It's been running all day.. Keeping the den warm as toast. Very weird.. Normally, it would be shutting down under 10F.. Maybe the dry air helps? Happy 2018! Rich

Is the Gree installed yet? I am wonderig because I put in a 2.5ton Gree in my shop that I got as a discontinued model. It says it will work down to -15C but that may be a bit hopeful. It goes off on a high head pressure or high compressor temp around -12-13C, waits a bit and comes back on but I know the output temp is low.

My first Gree has been installed for a while now.. Fall of 2016..
http://ecorenovator.org/forum/geothe...install-9.html I have not purchased one for the den yet. The den Sanyo is a problem below -12C. So, I'm waiting for the climate to turn warmer, or the noisy fan motor to die.. Then, I'll likely buy a second Gree.. This one has worked okay at -20C.. (-5F)

Last night "New Years Eve" driving home after a house party the outside temperature here in Ontario Canada read -21 Deg C. Burrr. The ground source heat-pumps purring away keeping the temp welcomingly at 20 Deg C. in the house. Very little of the in floor heat has been harvested by the Solar Hot water collectors.
A lot of snow here now and blowing around. Its great to see that the efficiency of the ASHP is getting better. 700 watts and still blowing warm air with those outside temps!!! Amazing Randen |

It's up to 10F outside right now (Dew Point:-9.3°F)..
But, the Sanyo just went orange-flashing.. Going to window-solar.. It was working pretty good before. The Gree is taking up the slack..

Sanyo is amazing tonight
The Den Sanyo is working great tonight. It's using 770 watts at 1.4 deg F
I had expected to be using the two 900W space heater about 6 ago. The Den has been very warm all evening. The older it gets the better it runs.?.

It is unbelievable.
Last night, it started blinking around 1:30 AM, so I turned it off for night. Outdoor Temps were dropping slowly..
Used two 900W space heaters all night in the den. 1.8 KWh = 6142 BTUh. It was a little cool in there. Woke up to a COLD day. I didn't think today's forecast temperatures would allow for ANY use of the Sanyo.. But, when the outside air soared up to 6.4 deg F this morning, I turned on the Sanyo.. It's still heating the Den, using 700 to 800 watts.. (See history chart below). It's on the north side of the house, so there is Never any sun light near the old Sanyo. I really don't understand why this thing is working so well, during some really cold days.. For the Boston area, this is really cold. Yesterday we shoveled out in a -20F windchill. Strange times we live in..
