Breakmate Coke machines with compressors.
I have a couple of these Coke Breakmate Coke machines. You can just refill the containers with bag in the box syrup like the fast food use. You don’t have to go to the store and buy soda. It is great for movie night.
These units have a compressor they keep an ice block to dispense cold drinks. The syrup storage is kept cold. There are a couple versions of this one has a water storage on the left. You can also put a coin mech on the right to charge for drinks. This was made for a small office. I picked up about 40 of them yesterday. They worked before being put it storage the last 15 years. I had to drive to Fayetteville NC to get them about 3 1/2 hours away one way. These are 75 - 85 pounds apiece I was climbing up and down on a loading dock I am felling it today. I will be selling some once tested to work well. Parting some out. I will have to post a picture of the compressor I hope to be able to make a fish tank heater from one of the compressors. This will be after the greenhouse is done. Here is how they work pretty simple. I will get a better picture of the compressor and some numbers off it. Then maybe someone will know if it will be big enough to make a fish tank heater out of it. Last edited by pinballlooking; 11-06-15 at 09:48 PM.. |

Wow that is quite the haul. I look forward to see what you do with it all. Cool stuff.

Cool machines! That compressor is TINY man. I would be looking for a 23-30 LRA compressor. How many gallons is your total system? And are you doing air source?

It is about 1,000 gallons the sump tank it in the ground and I will be insulating the fish tank.
Right now with an open greenhouse it is at about 60 deg water. 70-75 would be better. When it gets really cold I will have a tankless natural gas setup to take over. But it is usually mild here. I have never messed with compressors at all so this is way out of my wheel house. This would be air source and only heat fish water. |

The current model equivalent for what you have is the Danfoss PL35G. Made for R-12 or R-134A, 2.0 cc displacement. Heat transfer at 0 degC is about 100 watts or so. COP about 1.5 at that evap temp. Much too small for heating 1000 gallons of water. Not too bad for a mini-fridge or water cooler.
I quickly found a white paper in Russian: http://www.schiessl.com.ua/docs/danf...pressors/3.pdf |

What temp will the inside of the greenhouse be? I know with my current set up it takes about 20 minutes to move the temp from 68 to 68.5. Ands I have about 400 gallons of water.

Thanks for the link to the doc.
Thanks guys it is much too small for this job. When I part one of these out is there any market to sell a small compressor like this or to the scrap yard it goes? What size compressor do the overclockers use is this to big for them? I really don’t know what the temp in the greenhouse will be yet. It is a little early for this project but I was thinking I would get the water up to temp with the gas setup then I would like a compressor that could maintain that temp under not really cold conditions. If it gets really cold out let the gas heater heat the water. It is vent free so it would also heat the greenhouse. Would a window AC work for this or is that too small also? I have some extra solar power to run the compressor about 1000 Kwh. |

I would think you would have to sit on them a long time to sell them, they are perfect for a very small project but not many people doing projects like these. I would think you would have better luck selling to whole unit even if it isn't working. Overclockers usually start in the 5,000 Btu range and up, that's because they can just use a water cooled system for cheaper than running a small compressor.
Heating 1,000 gallons of water is no small chore. Water weights 8.34lbs per gallon, you have 1,000 gallons so 8,240 lbs. It take 1 btu to raise 1 pound of water 1 degree. So 8,340 btu is needed to just move it one degree. I would be looking for a compressor anywhere from 5,000 to 12,000 btu. And that is all under perfect conditions, like reasonable air temp and no heat loss. A DC inverted mini split outdoor unit and a stainless steel in-tank condenser might be your best bet.
