Nice little TV set for a small room..

Got this for a relative and had to bench test it..

The picture is pretty good. (Better than my small 720p Samsung sets anyways).
I plugged in a USB with some 12mp pics on it, and the slide show was super!
Picture quality was very nice!

The sound on my Samsung sets is poor.. The speakers shoot downwards.
You can hear them better, if you are behind them!

But this E220VA has much better sound, because it's speakers face forward!
I've got bad hearing, so I'm really liking the E220VA!

Anyways, they have some at Walmart for $198 right now, but are out-of-stock online.
The stores around here show "Limited Stock"..

Ran the TV for a few hours, then scanned it. 80 deg F max.. (Room temp is 70F).

Tested both HDMI ports (off my Revue unit) and they worked well. Picture looks the same as OTA.

The OTA tuner seems to be pretty good too. Scan picked up 40 digital channels and one weak analog.
The weaker stations (from other states) show up with black bars during heavy rain.

I have not checked out the PC (VGA) input, but I'm thinking maybe I should..
If it's better than this Rosewill monitor, perhaps I need a new display for this PC!!

I wondered about that. I recently experimented with small 12V power supplies
and found they would function using either 50Vdc off the battery bank,
and the 120-230vac / 12vdc would work off my PV at about 115-140 vdc..

Don't know about the TV.. It might have a small 50-60hz AC transformer inside,
to keep some power going during the Off mode..?.

I've had a good experience with a 42" Vizio I bought about three years ago. While some TVs don't let you independently set the backlight and brightness, mine does, so with the backlight turned way down and the brightness turned way up I can get a decent picture and bring power consumption down to about 85W.

A few years ago, I had a very sick friend ask me to pick out and buy a new TV for her.
I found a Vizio 32" at Sears and got her a really nice stand off the discount rack.
She absolutely loved that TV set. She had good cable service and the pic was great.
I guess one of her kids or her grandson inherited it.
Anyways.. Vizio became a brand name to me since then.

My elderly sister-in-law took one look at the 1080i basketball game on her new TV
this afternoon, and was instantly sold on the new TV.. (Surprise gift from the family).
She was very happy to see her pictures, she had saved on a USB stick..
The slide show feature is impressive. Just needs sound..
