Be careful with that saw. Don't drop anything without knowing where it's going to land.
I almost killed my tracking array the other day! (My new E-chainsaw works great)! |

How do you repair the glass surface of your PV?
Quote:
I guess there was a hit on 04-01-11.. The fat end of the limb must have hit the #3 panel. Yesterday, I was doing my once a week bird poop wash down, and noticed something new.. It looked like a 1/4" burn, under the glass. On the backside, there was a melt-thru.. The micro-cracks aren't very easy to see with just the Mark1 eyeball. I can't even feel them with my fingers. Even dragging a finger nail, nada. But they show up great in the pictures.. Looks like water got in during the big rain storms we've been having, or during a wash down.. Then the sun came up and the mix started cooking.. For now, I stuck some clear tape over the glass. Since it's been sunny a couple of hours today, the water should be gone.. But, if it's there, there will be bubbles under the tape.. I'm using some tape that works well in cold weather.. Not sure if it's going to fall off when the pv hits 173F..

The Hard Rain
We had some hard rain this week.. When the basement started taking water, the pumps were doing their job.. Then, the grid went dead for a few minutes.. It came back on for a short while, and went dead again for 3 hours.!. It was pouring outside and the water kept filling up 2 of the sump holes.. So, I turned on the battery back-up.. It worked great! No basement flooding! Our neighbors experienced a small amount of flooding, but it wasn't too bad.. I was getting ready to pull out the gas generator (it's due for testing), but the power came back on.. So I took a nap.. We got some sun this morning, and the 500w array put some AH back into the batteries..
