The work on the cooler/greenhouse continues. I worked on the boxing. This is time consuming each layer square needs to be custom cut. It kind of completes the envelope.
Everything I do to it lately makes it look worse but as you guys know it is all for the better.

Thanks and I debated on if this step was needed. I have some of the reclaimed insulation left. I what drums of water to heat the greenhouse so I want to give it the best shot at it I can. If I was paying someone by the hour I don’t think I would add this step but it would bug me if I did not do it knowing the insulation to do it will probably just get tossed out.

I finished the boxing insulation tonight. I got out the night lights to finish it up. It was warm out and it is going to rain tonight and next day or two.
The cleanup crew came in to help out. I am very happy and thankful that I had enough reclaimed insulation to put three layers on the greenhouse. I have a little left over to do my new dog house put a layer under the first row 55 gallon drums. I saved so much money with this reclaimed lumber and insulation. It was such a great find.

Here is a great write up on DIY Principles for a Passive Solar Greenhouse.
It is by Cord that designs and builds Passive Solar Greenhouses. His designs is mostly what my greenhouse design is based on. DIY Principles for a Passive Solar Greenhouse - Farm and Garden - GRIT Magazine

Insulation is done. I will need to come back and put up the rest of the 1 x 4 ‘s nailers. For now moving on to marking out the cement footers for the pallet racking cutting insulation for the first row of 55 gallon drums. After the cement and the first row barrels I will probably start on the vents.
This mild winter so far has helped so much.

The first four barrels are in and full of water. Just a couple of solar batteries but more to come. I filled them with warm water about 100 degrees.
I put some Clorox in each barrel and left a little space for expansion.

It is raining outside but the greenhouse progress must continue.
I dug the footers for the pallet racking. Once I put in the cement I can add the next 4 barrels. I cut up the rebar for the holes and bought the cement. I cut some T post in ½ and pounded the half into the holes so just 6” was still showing.

It did not rain the whole day so I made some progress. I was going to try and mix the cement but the holes kept filling back up with water. Maybe Saturday for the cement.
I finished putting the nailers on the back wall and put some more on the side walls.

Last night my wife wanted me out of the house to wrap gifts. So I went out with a LED lantern and finished up the nailers.
One step closer. I am sure my neighbors thought I was crazy.
