I have made the ridge beam and transported it into the greenhouse by myself. That thing is heavy.
I put a couple temp cross braces on the front wall to make it so we can put up our rafters. Today’s tomatoes I still don't have a complete plan on how to get that big beam 12' high. |

You might want to consult with a Rigger. Or, think about carefully using some block and tackle gear to lift up one end at a time..
Do you have a Back-Hoe or a front-end loader of some kind? I took one look at those tomatoes, and my mouth started watering within microseconds.. I must be part dog.. Pavlov's dog..

I have a Warn PullzAll 24V Battery Power winch. And a heavy duty come along.
I was thinking I could drill a hole through both the tops of 2 x 6. I would put a PVC fitting in it so the rope would go through without snagging. I could connect the power winch to my tractor and the come along to my truck. I will sleep on this idea. I have a chain fall. My one neighbor has a small track hoe I wonder how high it can get. |

Use a ladder with a 2"x12" attached as the other side of the triangle and the bottoms tied together with rope. My dad, Grandpop, and I did it for a steel I-beam and it worked great.

Thanks a lot! Now I've got to go find a midnight snack!
(You should try some of that with scrambled eggs in the morning)! I wonder what that ladder is rated for? My step ladder says 275 pounds.. I think my extension ladder says 250.. That I-Beam looks pretty heavy..

I just might try that I have some fresh eggs from our chickens...
I have some 2 x 8’s out there and if I double them and fasten them to the outside of my ridge beam support. They are like 15’ tall I will measure them tomorrow. This would make two very strong lift points. I have some 6” structural screws that would hold these up nicely. |

The I-Beam we lifted for my parent's house was 24' long and around 400-600 lbs. We lifted one side a couple of feet, stacked some cinder blocks up, lowered it down on the blocks, moved the ladder setup to the other side of the beam, and repeated. |

different labels
That looks a lot like this Werner 'brand name' ladder, for a similar price..
Werner 17 ft. Aluminum Telescoping Multi-Position Ladder with 300 lb. Load Capacity Type IA Duty Rating-MT-17 - The Home Depot Is it the same one? With different labels? Because this is the one I've been thinking about buying.. I have seen another multi-ladder on TV, that had leg extensions for placement on uneven ground.. I have some areas where that feature would come in real handy.. Since my house is on a hill side..
