I finished my quick connect for my backhoe. I still need to make some pins for the bucket.
Once I have some pins, I will try out my new root ripper.









I needed a better way to cut steel. I made a stand for my hand band saw.






I bought a foot switch at Harbor Freight and I just use a jip tie to hold the trigger on.

I made pins out of 1144 TGP (turned, ground, polished). Someone very nice on the tractor forum suggested this to me.


I tried root ripper out tonight it performed really well. I was very happy with it.
I only took out one stump maybe 5"- 6" not real big. No problem at all.
lots of small trees. I built this to help clean up my fence line and take out some stumps.
My quick connect is working amazing.
I timed switching from root ripper to bucket it took me one minute to switch.

I did a small change on the pin I take out on my QC. I welded a flag on the pin so you can get a hold of it to pull it out.



I took it out yesterday. It is working well.




I started my 16" bucket. The teeth will mount to 1/2" plate. The top sides and the back will be 3/8" steel. I have 4 teeth for it. I ran out of mig welding wire. Amazon just dropped off some more hopefully this weekend I will make more progress.

I used a ratchet strap to help make the round bottom. The final part I used the tractor outrigger to push down the bottom and tack weld it.
That work pretty well. Now on to the brackets and then the teeth.





It looks big compared to the 10" bucket.
It is starting to look like a bucket.

I just finished my 16” backhoe bucket for my GC 1710.

I made this a little bigger than the OEM one. This was a little challenging because all the top part is ½” and 3/8” steel. That is a little thicker than I usually work with.

I did a test dig and it was working well. It will be my go-to for thumb use. My other bucket is 10”.








The OEM bucket was like $500 plus truck shipping I have about $125 in this bucket the teeth were $57 of that. I still have steel left over for more projects.

I made a backhoe lift attachment.
It was made out of ½ plate. My quick attach works so well that it is only one pin to switch. This should be useful for some jobs.




I also have a weld on lifting hook that I will weld on my 10” factory bucket.



I am going to make a smaller bucket for digging gutter drainage ditches.

I changes the bucket style I made similar to your 6 bucket. It is long and only 6 wide.
I made it longer because it really only digs the length of the bucket and a little more.
The backhoe is wider than the bucket where the thumb connects.



I thinking about making a Bxpanded style teeth for this bucket.


I painted my lifting attachment. This one is finished.

All I need now is the back brackets. It is starting to look like a bucket.
I hope it digs well but time will tell.

I broke a small ratchet strap making the curved bottom.
The larger 2" 10K pounds ratchet strap was able to do the job.

I have been using root ripper to clean the fence line and I am supper happy with how it is performing. It is very fun to use. I use to cut the fence line and the stuff just grows back. Not now I am ripping it out roots and all.

If you are wondering total cost here it is.
I have $160 in surplus steel. (I still have some left for other projects)

Bucket teeth and extra DIY pins for each attachment was $90

Total cost was $250 for all attachments.

The backhoe is a very expensive attachment and I want to make as useful as possible.

I think that is it for making stuff for my backhoe.

I may make a ballast box over the summer.

I can buy everything similar from one vendor except the 16” bucket and that is OEM

They don't make these items for my tractor yet. They say they will in the future.
