I have found for my house with an old heat pump (1987 model) it is more cost-efficient to run a modern 8,000 Btu window unit in my bedroom (especially at night), even the entire house (a single story) could be efficiently cooled with just two 8k btu modern window units.
It actually cools the entire house with a couple of fans, granted we haven't had a really hot summer and the fact it has to be (de)-installed every spring and fall may become a drag yet... Keep in mind it's wise to run the central air about once a month to keep the oil circulating. |
