I finally have it off my trailer and on a pallet. With my subcompact tractor I could not lift it any higher on trailer. I could curl it and get it off the trailer a couple inches. I just pulled trailer out from under it. I have it bolted to the pallet my Emax came on. It has nice 4 x 4 where the legs get bolted down.
Good news. I went to drain the tank and the pipe had been cut off going into the drain. This means it had an auto drain on it. This is good news for the tank. Once the other compressor is done I will get my Quincy in the garage.

I was able to get top big plug out of the air tank.
This tank is 1947 and it looks amazing auto drains work. It is just under ¼” thick this thing is so heavy. I could not budge the bottom plug but I am done trying I have seen enough. The drain in the bottom is 1/2" I like that. Another home hydro test completed. 300 Psi passed with flying colors. This time I did not start out with the tank pressurized. The pressure washer had no problem just bumping it to 300 psi. The last couple times is started out with 100 psi basically the incoming water pressure. I am not sue if that made a difference or the switch is just working better now. Either way it was simpler to do the test when it worked as expected.

The crank case is now cleaned up. Here is a picture of almost cleaned up.
There was almost no sludge in it. The oil pump pickup screen needed cleaned up. It has fresh oil that I will use to test it. I will drain it again and switch to Synthetic compressor oil.

I want going to make one of these for my compressor. Why reinvent the wheel.
I ordered this last night. It will make adjusting the belts simple. It was 39.54 shipped. It is made for my motor frame 184T This is what it will replace. These two bent up rails.

I cut out this Quincy unloader wrench last night. It is 1/8” plate steel hopefully that is heavy enough. If not I with cut it out of ¼”
Steel is so expensive right now so I just cut it out of some scrap I had. I cut it out handle the top part and I will weld it together. The scrap I had was not big enough to cut it out in one piece. I cut 1/8" plate every week. It has more than doubled in price. They show the wrench being use here. They sell the wrench for just under $200

IMO one of the best things about it is that if and when the bottom of the tank starts getting rust pinholes you have enough material that you can weld to.
When my cheapo modern ones rust through have never been able to get them welded effectively. Good luck with it. Latest projects, Mortising machine is almost finished and is working well. Panel saw works like a hot damn, Just got a treadmill and am turning it into a belt sander, will need 20" by 120" belts. |

I really can’t wait to take off the head off the compressor and see what it needs.
But I want to run it before I do this. My motor bracket comes in on Wednesday. I looked over the weekend and the old brackets were not even close enough to test it out. I will have to line it all up to mount the new motor bracket. I can turn it over by hand and feel it putting out good air flow. If you need Quincy documents you can get them here. Resource Library: https://www.revbase.com/TagTeam/Clie...&siteid=841396 Most of the the links on the net are bad they moved where the store the old manuals links do not work anymore.

My motor mount came in. It fits the motor but the platform is not big enough. I will need to extend it to the pully side and back a little.
I think I will cut some ¼” plate to put under it. Here is a good pully calculator. https://www.blocklayer.com/pulley-belteng.aspx My large pulley is 16” my small is 8” 5/16” motor is 1740 RPM that puts the pump right at 904 RPM. I bought the single-phase motor with the same size shaft so I could use the original motor pully.

I is alive. This is just a test but it pumped 80 gallons 150psi in 5:02. Not bad.
When it is done filling the tank. The two unloader towers are leaking air until the tank is empty. I ordered a valve repair kit.

It looks like my compressor parts will be here Friday.
I had to file a lost package report with the post office for my bearing seal. The bearing was shipped more than a month ago. The post office found it and I should have it today or tomorrow. I will still need to get belts for it. Maybe I can match them up at a auto parts store? I now have wiring instruction for my magnetic starter. I called the company that sold it to me. You would think they would just put instructions in the box. Goodies arrived today. Valve rebuild kit.
